General Information

MAE-HOUSTON was a public exchange point for Internet Access and Service Providers. Via subscription to this service and through peering agreements, providers were able to exchange traffic with other providers attached to the MAE-HOUSTON infrastructure.

This exchange point is no longer operational. In a meeting on November 16, 1995, a large number of Houston ISPs and other interested parties met to discuss the creation of MAE-HOUSTON. There was considerable interest in moving forward. This web site was to be a touch point for keeping up with this development and, if appropriate, on-going operational inforamtion.

MCI WorldCom decided to discontinue adding subscribers to MAE Houston in 1999. The last subscribers ceased using MAE-HOUSTON in April 2000.
